OPELIKA, Ala. (WIAT) — An Alabama couple’s big day was temporarily put on hold as intense thunderstorms moved through the Lee County area.
In one wedding photograph shared with WIAT by Holly Murphree, a tornado was spotted in the background as the couple walked in the foreground. The twister that touched down packed winds of 85 mph, toppling trees and damaging homes.
National Weather Service radar confirmed a tornado just before 7 p.m. in areas near Opelika and Beauregard.
No one was injured.
