While uncertainty is high, we may see our first tropical storm of the summer near the Gulf of Mexico next week.
The GFS computer model has been consistently suggesting the formation of a closed low pressure system in the Caribbean Sea or eastern Gulf of Mexico 7-10 days in the future (late next week).
New this morning, the ECMWF model is hopping on board with potential tropical cyclogenesis as well.
This is still 7-10 days away, and things will change as new forecast information becomes available. Stay with the KXAN First Warning Weather team for updates as we approach the coming Atlantic hurricane season.
