AUSTIN (KXAN) – A strong cold front will likely bring the first freeze of the season to many areas next Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
This may have an impact on sensitive plants in your backyard garden, and is coming a couple weeks ahead of schedule.

While it appears as of now that the core of metro Austin may remain 2-3 degrees above freezing due largely to the “urban heat island” effect, many low-lying suburbs in Austin and most communities elsewhere in central Texas should expect a light freeze.
Gardeners and those with sensitive plants should take steps to protect their vegetation. Stay tuned for updates, as only a minor change in the forecast could yield a freeze throughout the Austin metro.
