2018 was one of Austin's rainiest years on record

AUSTIN (KXAN) — In Austin, it rained and rained and rained in 2018 — especially on the weekends.

Of the 52 weekends in the year, 28 had measurable rain, including 15 that had moderate rainfall or more. All but one weekend in September had rain.

However, April and July were dry for all but one weekend.

"2018 wasn't just wet on the weekends," Meteorologist David Yeomans said. "It rained a whole bunch the rest of the time, too. In fact, 2018 was our third wettest year from the past decade. Both years that were worse — 2015 and 2013 — brought historic and deadly floods to the city."

Jim Spencer noted 2019 is off to a wet start as well. Already, January has seen more rain than its average for the entire month.
