GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — A pickup truck driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in Georgetown Thursday morning, according to Georgetown Police.

The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-35 just south of State Highway 29 and University Avenue just before 7 a.m.

Witnesses told police a pickup truck was speeding and recklessly driving when it slid out of control and hit the cement center divider, which flipped the truck on its side, police said.

Georgetown PD said the driver was the only person inside. They were ejected from the truck and died from their injuries. Officials are working to notify their next of kin.
