SILVER STAR NATION: Cowboys stressing fight, youth as season opener approaches

Today at AT&T Stadium was the annual Cowboy Kickoff Luncheon.

There was a fine crowd here, about 1,000 people, only about 89,000 people short when the Cowboys welcome the New York Giants back here for Sunday Night Football September 16.

But between that time and now we have a few things to take care of – number 1 of which is preseason game number four in Houston tomorrow night, then travel to Carolina September 9 for the opener against the Carolina Panthers.

But today was all about the Cowboys and what the fans can expect

“Once we decide who these 63 guys are, line one is going to be fight,” said head coach Jason Garrett. “We’re going to have an identity. We’re going to attack, we’re going to compete, we’re going to be physical, we’re going to execute. We’re going to finish, we’re going to be relentless, and all those things we talk about.”

“This year this is the youngest team that we’ve ever had since I’ve been a part of the Dallas Cowboys,” said Jerry Jones. “This team is young, but, boy, does this team have energy.”

So the Cowboys’ young players will have one final time to make a good impression on the coaching staff. The Cowboys have 93 players on the roster. They will have to cut that number to 53 by Saturday at three p.m.
