All Texans 5+ eligible

The first healthcare workers were vaccinated against COVID-19 the week of Dec. 15, 2020 in Texas as part of Phase 1A. The Texas Department of State Health Services announced Dec. 29 that providers could begin vaccinating those in Phase 1B. Starting March 15, those in phase 1C were eligible to receive vaccines and by March 29 all Texans over age 16 (Pfizer) or 18 (Moderna, Johnson & Johnson) could receive a vaccine. By mid-May, the FDA authorized the vaccine for those 12 and older. In November 2021, it opened up to those 5 and older. The federal government allocates COVID-19 vaccine doses to Texas, which DSHS distributes in the state each week.
