Naughty or Spice Punch Recipe:
For an 8-person punch bowl:
- 16 ounces (2 cups) good bourbon, we like Old Forester
- 6 ounces (3/4 cup) Orgeat (an almond syrup)
- 4 ounces (1/2 cup) Spiced orange syrup * (will need 12 oranges)
- 2 ounces (1/4 cup) St. Elizabeth’s Allspice Dram
- 6 ounces (3/4 cup) fresh lemon juice
METHOD: Pour all ingredients into a large pitcher (at least 44 ounce). Stir pitcher and fill shaker tins halfway with punch, rest with ice and shake. If you don’t have shaker tins, pour into punch bowl and add about half as much ice as you’d need to fill. Stir the punch with a ladle for a minute to properly mix. Add ice to properly fill the bowl. Garnish: orange wheel with cloves inside.
*Juice 6 oranges, add to saucepan. Quarter additional 6 oranges, hand squeeze juice from quarters into a saucepan, drop remaining quarters with rind into pan. Add ½ liter water, ½ TBSP nutmeg, ½ TBSP cinnamon. Boil on low until rinds are very tender, at least 10 minutes. Strain through cheesecloth and add equal parts sugar (about ½ liter of sugar) to liquid and stir until dissolved.
