AUSTIN (KXAN) — The NBA, more than any other professional league, is going through a revolution on the offensive side of the court.
To win in the current model of the league, a team has to shoot three pointers often and hit three pointers at a prolific rate as evidenced by the Golden State Warriors led by Steph Curry and the Houston Rockets led by James Harden.
Current sports analytics professor at the University of Texas Kirk Goldsberry wrote the book “Sprawlball”, tackling the analytical side of the NBA.
Goldsberry has dedicated his life to the science of sports analytics as a former Vice President of Strategic Research for the San Antonio Spurs and a current NBA analyst for ESPN.
Goldsberry joined Roger Wallace on More than the Score to discuss his book, “Sprawlball”, and the state of the NBA. Should the three point line be moved back? Should home courts be “customized” like MLB ballparks? These are just a few of the topics discussed.
