Sugar Bowl win builds recruiting momentum

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Sugar Bowl win over Georgia helps Texas in a variety of ways. Actually, the power of perception is even bigger than the 28-21 win, beating a power like Georgia makes a big difference in recruiting.

The Longhorns are almost done with the 2019 recruiting class with 22 players already signed along with Houston offensive lineman Javonne Shepherd committed. Texas coach Tom Herman said they have room for maybe four or five more players.

Most of the focus is already on to the 2020 class where the Longhorns will have a chance to build another top 10 class nationally. Texas is recruiting several of the best running backs in the country that are from Texas.

Currently, Texas holds two commitments for the 2020 class, Lake Travis quarterback Hudson Card and San Antonio O'Connor offensive lineman Logan Parr.

Herman's vision is to build Texas as the "bullies of the Big 12". Mike Craven from the Austin American Statesman explains it all with Roger Wallace on More than the Score
