It was 20 years ago when Dan Neil was a 3rd round draft pick out of Texas. But Neil never got to see his name called on TV. He was staying in a hotel that didn’t get ESPN2 and after the first two rounds ESPN moved their coverage to ESPN2, so Neil had a to settle for the phone call from Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan. It all worked out pretty well for the All-American offensive lineman. He went on to win two super bowl rings with John Elway and the Broncos.
Neil was a guest on More Than the Score and shared some of his draft memories and gave his thoughts on current Longhorn offensive lineman Connor Williams. Williams will be the first UT offensive lineman drafted in 10 years and if he goes in the first round, the first UT offensive player drafted in the first round since Vince Young in 2006.
