AUSTIN (KXAN) — One final hurdle stands in between Texas and a Big 12 Championship berth, all the Longhorns have to do is beat Kansas and they’re heading to AT&T Stadium.
Although, there was a lot on the line last time Texas traveled to Kansas. That game ended in an embarrassing Longhorns overtime loss and the firing of head coach Charlie Strong.
Texas entered the 2016 match up a win away from bowl eligibility and failed to reach the postseason.
Failure in this circumstance would be painful given this is Texas’ first real chance to compete in the Big 12 Championship game since 2009.
The Longhorns opened as 15-point favorites over Kansas at most sportsbooks. Here’s Roger Wallace and Andrew Schnitker with more on what’s at stake in Lawrence.
