AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas needs some wins in a hurry to get this basketball season back on track.
This week, the Longhorns lost to Kansas in what would’ve been a tournament resume’ stabilizer. Instead, it’s the sixth loss by two possessions or less for Shaka Smart’s team.
Reeling on a three-game losing streak, Texas faces a near ‘must win’ against #20 Oklahoma this weekend. From here on out, there will be urgency any time the Longhorns face a ranked opponent.
Against Kansas, Texas shot it better than they had in the previous three games going 13 of 34 from the 3-point line.
David Hamilton is the one player that Texas baseball coach David Pierce couldn’t lose for the 2019 season. Hamilton became a key player during his 2018 sophomore season playing defensive shortstop better than most in the country.
Hamilton is recovering from an achilles injury that will sideline him for the entire season. Pierce will have several options at a serviceable replacement for Hamilton.
