BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — Westlake’s dominant season continues in the UIL 6A-Division 1 state playoffs with another convincing win on Saturday against San Antonio Stevens.

Westlake held a 54-14 lead at halftime, cruising to a 71-14 win in the region semifinals. The Chaparrals will face Cibolo Steele in the region finals next Saturday.

Westlake (11-0) has aced every test thrown in front of it during the 2020 season, blowing out opponent after opponent on their way to an undefeated record. The Chaps are now three wins away from another state championship. Westlake won the 6A-Division 2 state championship in 2019.

The Chaparrals are outscoring opponents 627-51 this season. On Saturday, the offense continued its torrid pace and the defense stifled another opponent.

Coming into this playoff game, Westlake’s defense was allowing 3.7 points per game with five shutouts. The 14 points from Stevens was the most Westlake’s defense has allowed all season.

The game was played at Bastrop Memorial Stadium in Bastrop.
