KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) — Officials say they have arrested a suspect after a woman was found slain outside of the Central Texas radio station where she worked.

Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer told the San Antonio Express-News that the woman’s body was found early Wednesday morning at The Ranch Radio Group offices in Kerrville. Heirholzer says the killing appears to be a “random act of violence.”

According to Texas Public Radio, the victim, an employee at the radio station, was 52-year-old Sherry Ruth Francis. According to the Express-News, she had only been working there for a month.

Hierholzer says that about 90 minutes after the body was found, the suspect, named by the Express-News as Gilbert Manriquez, 36, was seen walking along a highway and confessed under questioning.

Hierholzer says an autopsy is planned.

Manriquez is expected to face a charge of murder. He had no known connection to anyone at the station. Hierholzer said he hailed from the San Angelo area and had been arrested in Kerr County in February on a warrant charging him with driving with an invalid license.

The newspaper reports a Ranch Radio employee who answered the phone declined comment.
