Woman killed after vehicle crashes into trees in northeast Travis Co.


TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Troopers with the Department of Public Safety are investigating a deadly crash that happened early Monday morning in northeast Travis County.

The agency says it was notified by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office at 1:43 a.m. about the crash at the intersection of Gregg Manor Road and Cameron Road.

A preliminary investigation by DPS shows that the driver of a Chevrolet Traverse was heading north on Cameron Road when the driver disregarded the stop sign and crashed into trees, catching on fire and killing Stepheni Cooney-James, 36, of Pflugerville.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
