Woman in her 60s killed in north Austin hit-and-run

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle near Rundberg Lane, Tuesday afternoon.

Police are currently working on getting a description of the vehicle of the driver, who did not stay at the scene. APD said that while one vehicle hit the woman, there were two vehicles involved. They believe the suspect vehicles were last seen going southbound on Parkfield Drive toward US 183.

Austin-Travis County EMS said the woman was hit in the 1300 block of Quailfield Circle. Medics were called to the scene at 4:28 p.m. and were performing CPR on the woman in her 60s, but she died at the scene.

Police said the victim was standing around a legally parked car on the street when the incident happened. Witness Elworth Steve was moving out of his home and was selling items in his front yard. The victim was at the home buying some of the items, Steve said.

He believes the driver responsible and another vehicle were racing, but police have not confirmed that.

Vehicular homicide detectives were at the scene investigating. People from the area brought candles and flowers to remember the victim, who has not been named.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information on the driver should call the Austin Police Department.
