BURNET COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A 96-year-old woman died in a Friday morning fire in the community of Hoover Valley, south of Inks Lake, according to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said Hazel Etter activated her emergency pendant about 11 a.m. requesting help for a fire at her home in the 700 block of Clen Oak Parkway. Moments later, a neighbor called 911 to report a fire at the same home.

Firefighters found Etter in the back of her home, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities said the woman was in hospice care.

“At this time there is no indication of foul play, but the investigation will continue pending autopsy and fire marshal reports,” said Burnet County Chief Deputy Joey Canady.

Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office have been called to help determine the cause of the fire.
