HARPURSVILLE, New York (WFLA) — The son of internet sensation “April the Giraffe” will be leaving his home at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York to live at a conservation center in North Carolina.
“Tajiri” is now about a year and a half old and stands 11 feet tall, which is large for his age.
April’s pregnancy drew more than 232 million YouTube live views during a seven-week period in 2017 before she gave birth the baby giraffe who is nicknamed “Taj.”
Animal Adventure Park owner Jordan Patch said Taj will be leaving the park in October. Taj will live at the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Park, which is a new facility outside of Raleigh, NC.
“We will miss our little guy Taj, but we have a baby on the way,” said Patch.
Taj will play a vital role in the conservation and breeding program at the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Park.
Taj will have female companions at the park and the hope is he will become a father.
There will also be a “Taj Cam,” according to Animal Adventure Park owner Jordan Patch.
As for Taj’s mom, April, she is pregnant again and is expected to give birth in March of 2019.
Patch says April has not yet gone through much in the way of a physical change yet. She is eating more food and has gained a bit of weight, but she has not rounded out.
For those who follow April, expect to see a big physical change in January and February when she will eat even more and gain more weight. Her tummy will start pushing out at this time and she will also have mammary development.
In the next couple weeks, April’s followers will be able to get play-by-play updates about her pregnancy, Patch says.
