AUSTIN (KXAN) — An MRI has revealed Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger suffered a first-degree shoulder sprain, according to a release from UT.
Ehlinger will continue to be treated and evaluated as he rehabs and rests his throwing shoulder during the upcoming bye week.
The injury happened on the Longhorns first drive of the game against Baylor University. Ehlinger actually had to leave the game because of blood on his hand, but never returned after complaining of shoulder pain.
“I think any time you hurt a throwing shoulder, my level of concern is greater than zero,” Herman said during Saturday’s post-game press conference.
On Saturday, Herman said it was possible Ehlinger could be throwing again by the end of this week.
Shane Buechele came off the bench for the first time this season and threw for 184 yards and a touchdown in UT’s 23-17 win over Baylor.
Texas plays at Oklahoma State on Oct. 27.
