BURNET COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Two people are dead after a multi-vehicle collision in Burnet County Monday morning.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on State Highway 29 near County Road 304, which is just a few miles east of the city of Burnet. Initial information indicates Pamela Stewart, 56, was in her Ford Focus and stopped in westbound lane of SH 29 waiting to turn onto CR 304 when she was hit from behind by a driver in a pickup truck.

After the initial impact, the pickup truck rotated into the eastbound lanes of SH 29 and was struck by Dena Kolb, 52, of Burnet, in her Ford Escape. Kolb’s vehicle rolled onto its side. She died at the scene.

Stewart, of Bertram, was taken to the hospital where she later died. The driver of the pickup truck, a 56-year-old Leander man, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

In July, a woman was killed in a crash on SH 29, just a couple miles west of Bertram.
