LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — Police in Leander and Lago Vista are searching for a man who robbed two Compass Banks on Monday.

It happened at the Compass Bank at 201 North U.S. Highway 183 at around 11:20 a.m. When police arrived, the suspect already left the scene. Witnesses tell police the suspect walked west from the bank and drove off in a 2000’s model tan or gold Mercury Marquis with a vinyl top the same color as the vehicle.

Police describe the suspect as a 5-foot-tall white or Hispanic male wearing a black jacket, tan or khaki pants, a yellow reflective safety vest and a camouflage baseball cap. Police say the man entered the bank and demanded money from a teller and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

On the same day, just a few hours later at 3 p.m., Lago Vista police said a man robbed the BBVA Compass Bank at 20610 Farm to Market 1431. Police say the suspect came in and demanded money but he didn’t display a weapon. He was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money; he was last seen running into the woods. The suspect in this case also had on a black long-sleeved t-shirt, tan pants and was wearing a camouflage baseball cap.
