LUBBOCK (KXAN) — Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman’s status for the Texas game is questionable at best according to Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Kingsbury says Alan Bowman still in the hospital. Kliff says he doesn’t want to jump the gun but hopes Bowman could be discharged tomorrow. In any event, pretty clear QB is Jett Duffey show this week.— Don Williams (@AJ_DonWilliams) November 6, 2018
Bowman missed two games this season with a partially collapsed lung and re-aggravated the issue last weekend in the loss to Oklahoma.
Bowman started against the Sooners, but he left at halftime complaining about shortness of breath and returned to the hospital for further evaluation.
With a 4-3 record as a starter, Bowman’s been the catalyst for much of Texas Tech’s offensive success throwing for 2,638 passing yards and 17 touchdowns as a freshman.
If Bowman is unable to play, redshirt sophomore Jett Duffey is expected to start against the Longhorns. Duffey is a true dual-threat quarterback rushing for close to six yards per carry on 52 attempts this season while throwing for 627 yards
In his lone start of the season, Duffey led Tech to a 17-14 win at TCU in the sixth game of the season.
