Third Street lane closures to last about 3 weeks

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The eastbound lanes of Third Street between Congress Avenue and Brazos Street will closed starting Saturday, May 2. The city’s contractor is closing the lanes to install parking islands on the south side of the street.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Congress via Second and Fourth Streets, west to Brazos Street, and back to East Third Street. According to the city, existing street parking on the south side of the block will be closed until the project is complete.

Once work of the east side of the road is completed, westbound lanes will be closed to install a barrier curb along the bicycle lane on the north side of the street.

The work is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
