AUSTIN (KXAN) — Council member Leslie Pool is hoping to hang on to her Austin City Council District 7. She only has one candidate running against her. District 7 covers the section that runs along North MoPac from central Austin up to Scofield Ridge Parkway.

Pool is dedicated in keeping Austin an environmentally conscious city but is also continuing her efforts to tackle the affordability in the city. “My goal as a council member is to move change at a pace that can accommodate everyone,” council member Pool said. “I think a natural evolution is a real strong foundational precept for many of the folks that do city planning.”

Gauldin is a native to District 7. She grew up there, attended college at The University of Texas at Austin, and now raising a family in the area she is hoping to represent. She is seeing her childhood friends having to relocate to the outskirts of the city, which causes even more problems with the traffic congestion.

“I would really like to be a strong voice for some people that are typically under represented at city hall, which are people living in the northern part of the district, younger people, and renters,” Natalie Gauldin said. Gauldin also explains that The Grove, a legacy project to build homes, apartments, and retail on 75 acres, is something she has close ties with.
