WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KXAN) — World War II Veteran Joe Cuba had one wish for his birthday this year; 100 birthday cards.

A photo of Cuba holding a sign with his address and a message stating: “I’m a WWII veteran who will be turning 100 on March 2, 2019. I would like to receive 100 birthday cards” has been shared across the internet.

The photo was posted last Thursday on Facebook by the executive director at his assisted living facility, Brookdale Midwestern in Wichita Falls, and word about his wish spread fast, receiving positive feedback.

On Thursday, the assisted living facility’s executive director said he had received more than 30,000 cards and counting.

“The mailman just walked in with 14,000 cards,” said the executive director.

The 99-year-old will turn 100-years-old on Saturday, March 2.
