Wildfire in Davis Mountains threatens hundreds of homes

McDannald Fire

The McDannald Fire in the Davis Mountains of West Texas is threatening hundreds of homes, the Forest Service says.

An estimated 400 homes are threatened with ongoing evacuations for the Davis Mountain Resort Community.

Officials said the fire was started Monday by lightning. 

As of Wednesday, the fire had burned 12,000 acres and was 15 percent contained.
