WEATHER BLOG: Latest area road closures and flood warnings

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Several flash flood warnings and road closures are in place as wet and dreary weather hangs over the Austin area and surrounding counties Sunday. Follow along KXAN’s live weather blog for the most recent updates on closures and watches.

Update 6:45 p.m.

Hays County: Road closure on Uhland Road at the Blanco River.

Flash Flood Watch from the National Weather Service in effect in the areas below.

Williamson County: Update 5:00 p.m.

Road closures:

  • Spears Ranch Road at County Road 305
  • County Road 305

Update 4:00 p.m.

Austin-Travis County says a flash flood watch has been extended for Williamson and Travis counties until 9:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Some Bastrop County roads that were previously closed have reopened.

Williamson County: Update 3:00 p.m.

Road closures:

  • County Road 177
  • County Road 152 at Lonnie Thomas

Update 2:00 p.m.

There are 66 closures in the Austin area.

San Marcos: Update 1:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning until 4:15 p.m.

Update 12:50 p.m.

There are 50 closures right now in the Austin area.

Hays County: Update 10:30 a.m.

Hays County Flash Flood Warning in effect and extended until 1:15 p.m, the City of San Marcos and Buda said. Avoid low water crossings and stay home if possible.

Jacob’s Well and Five-Mile Dam Parks closed because of rain clouding the water, making it unsafe for swimming. Park goers who have swim reservations will be contacted to reschedule.

San Marcos: Update 10 a.m.

Travis County and Bastrop County Update 10 a.m.

Flood advisory in effect until 12:45 p.m, the National Weather service says. Up to two inches of rain have fallen.

Bastrop County Update 9:45 a.m.

High water road closures at the following:

  • Post Oak near Elm Forest Loop
  • 1000 block of Shiloh near Gaines
  • 700 block of Shiloh near 3 Oaks
  • Jenkins Road near Brown Lane

Hays County Update 9:45 a.m. 

Kyle, Texas Update 9:00 a.m.

Road closures:

  • Little Arkansas Road (CR 174) at Blanco River
  • Wayside Drive (CR 179) at Blanco River

Flood Advisory issued for Wimberley and entire county until 12:00 p.m.

Leander Update 6:30 a.m.

Flash Flood Watch extended to 7 p.m. Sunday.
