AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you’re looking for a new appliance, this Memorial Day Weekend might be a good time to do it since it’s Tax Free Weekend for water and energy-efficient products.

The tax holiday runs from Saturday, May 26 to Monday, May 28.

The following items are tax exempt:

  • Products that have a WaterSense label or logo such as shower heads, bathroom sink faucets, toilets and landscape irrigation controls
  • Lawn and garden products that help conserve water outdoors (soaker hoses, mulch, plants and trees)

There is no limit to the number of water-efficient or water-conserving products you can purchase tax-free.

Products that have the ENERGY STAR Logo can also be purchased tax-free. Those include:

  • air conditioners priced at $6,000 or less
  • refrigerators priced at $2,000 or less
  • ceiling fans
  • fluorescent light bulbs
  • dishwashers
  • dehumidifiers
  • clothes washing machines

This is the third year the state of Texas has had a tax holiday for these products.
