VIDEO: Dallas boy jumps from burning apartment into arms of police

DALLAS, Texas (NBC News) — Newly-released body camera footage shows a boy jumping from a window to escape an apartment building fire in Texas.

It happened Monday morning in Dallas. Flames quickly surrounded the second story apartment, where a mother and son were trapped.

Police yelled to the woman to open her window, but it was stuck. An officer threw his baton, smashing the window and instructing the woman to kick through the glass.

Three other officers coaxed the young boy to jump from the window while they waited below.

Minutes later, firefighters arrived and set up a ladder for the woman to climb down.

They were both uninjured, but their unit, along with two others, were heavily damaged in the fire.
