Texas Sergeant walks from Dallas to Austin to honor fallen officers

DALLAS (KXAN) — A police sergeant in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is taking on a special mission in an effort to raise awareness and honor the law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty last year.

Sergeant Brent Wright with the North Richland Hills Police Department has decided to take a walk from Dallas to Austin. He is walking 163 miles, one mile for each life lost in the line of duty.

Sergeant Wright’s “Walk of Reflection” began April 28, and he is scheduled to reach his destination by Sunday, May 5. His walk is not just to reflect on the lives of fallen officers but also to raise money for Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) and Alliance for Children, Tarrant County.

If you happen to see Sergeant Wright on the road, give him a wave!

Any donations to the “Walk of Reflection can be made here.
