BRYAN, Texas (KXAN) — A Brazos County inmate is back in jail two days after climbing out a hospital window and down scaffolding to escape custody.
The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office said Cody Rowley, 19, was found around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the North Zulch area, northeast of Bryan-College Station in Madison County. BCSO said deputies saw Rowley in the 2400 block of Central Avenue in North Zulch, a town of about 350 people, and then chased him into the woods where he was caught.
“We are appreciative of all the support we have received from surrounding agencies,” BCSO said in a press release Wednesday. “The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Constables, Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers, Texas DPS, Bryan Police Department, and College Station Police Departments K9 unit were all involved in helping with this search. We are also thankful to all the information and tips we received from citizens in the community.”
Rowley went on the run Monday after he climbed down scaffolding after getting out an unlocked window on the second floor of the hospital around 8:45 p.m. Once deputies figured out Rowley escaped, they used drones, helicopters and dogs to try to find him.
CrimeStoppers offered a $2,000 reward for any information that led to Rowley’s arrest.
Rowley was being held on misdemeanor charges before he escaped, BCSO said.
