Selena fans can get yet another item to remember the late singer: Stripes stores in Texas and Louisiana will be selling limited-edition cups, with part of the proceeds to benefit the Selena Foundation.
Stripes worked with Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla on the two designs — one features a black-and-white picture, while the other has a colorful, watercolor one. The company also released commemorative cups of Selena last year and is a sponsor of the Fiesta de la Flor event in Corpus Christi that honors Selena’s life.
Saturday was the 23rd anniversary of the Queen of Tejano’s death. She was shot and killed by a former employee. Within the past year, she was commemorated with her own Google Doodle and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
People can buy the cups Saturday, April 7, starting at 9 a.m. Lines will begin forming at 8 a.m. Although there aren’t any store in Austin, there are a number in Buda, as well as Elgin, Kyle and Johnson City.
The cups cost $2.99 and are limited to four per person. They are expected to sell quickly. Those who miss out on April 9 may also be able to buy some at the Fiesta de la Flor on April 13-14.
H-E-B recently released limited-edition Selena bags in conjunction with the Selena Foundation, which sold out in less than an hour and crashed its website.
