DALLAS (KXAN) — Shoppers at a Dallas mall mistook the sounds of a man banging his skateboard on the floor for gunfire Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to the NorthPark Center Mall close to 1:30 p.m. after reports of an active shooter. Police arrived, went to the food court and found the man creating the loud noises.

Police said they took the man to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

In a statement, police reiterated no one fired any shots, and there were no injuries either.

The mall was evacuated, according to local reports, but operations returned to normal Monday afternoon.
