SEAGOVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — A North Texas police officer sprinted through the flames of a burning duplex to save a family inside. All seven people got out safely.
Sam Click with the Seagoville Police Department was on patrol early Saturday morning when he realized the garage of a duplex was on fire, and had started to spread to a nearby home.
“The fire department, they’re minutes away, and I don’t think we had minutes,” Click recalled thinking. He radioed that he was going in.
Click and a neighbor, Jeremy Giblaint, broke down a door and ran into the burning building where a father and his six children were sleeping. They gathered the scared children and got everyone outside.
“I mean I keep looking at it,” Giblant said. “Keep replaying everything in my mind, and I realized just how close we were to losing everything and losing family.”
The house had extensive damage, and fire investigators are working to determine what caused it.
