NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — The New Braunfels Police Department has taken an 18-year-old into custody for the Jan. 12 shooting of a New Braunfels hotel clerk.

Porfirio Navarro III voluntarily turned himself in to authorities in Eagle Pass. Navarro’s arrest warrant had previously been issued, charging him with second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The NBPD and the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force used a variety of resources to track down Navarro, who they pinpointed as being in Mexico. Navarro then elected to turn himself in without incident.

Navarro is now in the custody of the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition back to Comal County. His bond is set at $75,000.
