More than 180 homes threatened in Texas Panhandle wildfire

The Texas A&M Forest Service is reporting 182 homes are threatened in a fire near Follett, Texas – a few miles from the northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle.

KXAN sister station MyHighPlains.com reports a call for help from the Forest Service went out at 3:57 p.m. Friday.

Photos and video from the scene show huge plumes of smoke and lines of fire jutting across fields.

An evacuation request has been made for residents in Follett, south of Highway 15.
