AUSTIN (KXAN) — An earthquake was felt near Nixon, Texas early Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck at about 5:52 a.m. about 6.2 miles east of the town of Nixon with an initial reported magnitude of 3.1. The depth was recorded as 5 kilometers or about 3.1 miles.
Nixon is about 80 miles south of Austin and about 45 miles east of San Antonio.
People living in the area can report to USGS if they felt shaking as a result of the quake. So far one person living near Nixon and another in San Antonio reported feeling the shake.
