A law enforcement pursuit in Houston has left an innocent driver dead after authorities say her SUV was hit by a vehicle fleeing after a traffic stop.

Houston police on Monday announced the 19-year-old driver sought during the chase has been charged with murder and aggravated assault causing bodily injury.

Juan Jesus Sosa-Montes of Houston remains hospitalized with serious injuries suffered in Sunday night’s wreck. Police say an 18-year-old woman riding with him was also seriously hurt.

The chase began after a Harris County constable stopped a car for allegedly speeding, then the driver sped away.

Authorities say Sosa-Montes was driving the fleeing vehicle that ran a red light and hit an SUV, killing Leticia Ochoa Ali, 57, according to KPRC.

Court records don’t list an attorney representing Sosa-Montes.
