WESLACO, Texas (KXAN) — Neighborhoods in Weslaco look like islands from the sky. In the past 24 hours, the National Weather Service says up to 12 inches of rain have fallen in the Rio Grande Valley.
“This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation,” urged the weather service.
Flash flooding is already occurring.
Hidalgo County Emergency Management reported multiple vehicles submerged underwater in the warning area and frontage roads along Interstate 2 are currently impassable.
