Former President George H.W. Bush is recovering in the hospital and in good spirits, according to a spokesman on Wednesday. In fact, he’s quite concerned about the outcome of a basketball game, even as his condition improves.
“He also wants to assure everyone that, as good as he feels now, he is more focused on the Houston Rockets closing out their playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves than anything that landed him in the hospital,” a statement from his office said, highlighting the 41st president’s humor.
Bush went to the hospital Sunday morning, the day after his wife Barbara’s funeral. A spokesperson said he had an infection that spread to his blood.
Bush has now been moved from intensive care to a regular patient room. He is expected to be there for the next few days.
“He is alert and talking with hospital staff, family and friends, and his doctors are very pleased with his progress,” the latest statement read.
