East Texas city’s beloved BBQ-eating dog dies on Easter Sunday

It’s with great sadness that we share this story about the lovable BBQ-eating dog, Jake, who died Sunday.

His owners at Parmer Automotive in Emory, Texas say he died from cancer. Back in mid-January his spleen ruptured and a cancerous mass was found. Following emergency surgery, he was diagnosed with only months to live.

Jake Parmer passed on Easter Sunday at the age of 13.

The Labrador stole the hearts of East Texas, just like he had in Emory, with his story in 2016. He was known for waiting next door at the Anytime Circle H Bar-B-Q & Grill drive-thru window. He enjoyed his barbecue.

“Everybody knows Jake,” Josh Hines, the man who provides Jake with all his favorite food at the drive-thru, said when KETK first aired the story. “He’s definitely the town mascot.”

All of us wish Jake a happy afterlife of rib bone eatin’ and toilet water drinkin’.
