AUSTIN (KXAN) — Blue Bell Creameries has a new flavor in stores Thursday but you will only get a short time to try it.
The new flavor, “Cookie Cake Ice Cream” is described as a “sweet cream ice cream loaded with chocolate chip cookie cake pieces and swirls of chocolate and vanilla icing.”
The Texas-favorite brand is known for its limited offerings of seasonal specialties like “Mardi Gras King Cake,” “Christmas Cookies,” and “Peppermint Bark.”
The company briefly closed its plant for cleaning in 2015 after listeria contamination led to the deaths of three people. They were also fined $850,000 for allowing “adulterated product to enter the marketplace and cause illness.” Since then, the company has made a strong comeback in the market and in the hearts of Texans.
The company teased the launch of the new flavor on their social media, giving people a chance to try and figure out what it was going to be.
The company also has a limited edition flavor out called “Raspberry Fudge Brownie” that is described as an “almond ice cream combined with fudge brownie chunks, flakes of dark chocolate and a raspberry sauce swirl.”
Both the limited-release flavors are available in the half gallon and pint sizes.
You can find a store that Blue Bell ice cream on their online map.
