SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KXAN) — A deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office who authorities say shot a woman multiple times in Medina County is on administrative leave.

The Medina County Sheriff’s Office tells WOAI Deputy Brandon Doege was off-duty and driving along Highway 90 when he stopped around midnight Friday to help a woman who appeared to be stranded.

The sheriff says the woman became aggressive and Doege shot her multiple times. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Doege, who is assigned to the Detention Division, has been employed with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office since January 2016.

Medina County is west of San Antonio.
