1 million gallons of raw sewage flowing toward popular Dallas lake

DALLAS (KXAN) — About one million gallons of raw sewage is flowing toward the popular White Rock Lake, just northeast of downtown Dallas.

Helicopter video from local NBC affiliate KXAS showed dead fish floating in the water near the lake.

The sewage is coming from a ruptured pipe hit by a construction crew Wednesday afternoon.

The pipeline was repaired around 3 a.m. Thursday.

KXAS reports the dry weather may help slow the flow of sewage and help make the cleanup easier.

Water activities on the lake, which has the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens on its shores, have been closed.
