KANSAS CITY (KXAN) — Texas Tech and Kansas State are Big 12 Regular Season Co-Champions stopping Kansas’ 14-year reign over the Big 12.

The Jayhawks finished third in the conference standings failing to earn at least a share of the regular season title for the first time in 14 years.

Big 12 Regular Season Standings

T1) Texas Tech: 14-4
T1) Kansas St: 14-4
3) Kansas: 12-6
4) Baylor: 10-8
5) Iowa State: 9-9
6) Texas: 8-10
7) TCU: 7-11
8) Oklahoma: 7-11
9) Oklahoma St: 5-13
10) West Virginia: 4-14

Kansas will enter a friendly (almost homecourt) environment in Kansas City for the tournament. Texas has the unenviable task of playing the Jayhawks in the opening, quarterfinal round and the Longhorns need a win more than any other team in the conference.

If the bracket experts are accurate, Texas needs one win in order to clinch a spot in the NCAA Tournament. They would certainly prove they belong if they beat Kansas in the quarterfinals.

Here’s the Big 12 Tournament schedule at the Sprint Center:

First Round- Wednesday

#8 Oklahoma vs. #9 Oklahoma St (6 p.m.)
#7 TCU vs. #10 West Virginia (8 p.m.)

Quarterfinals- Thursday

#4 Baylor vs. #5 Iowa St (11:30 a.m.)
#1 Kansas St vs. winner of OU/Ok State (1:30 p.m.)
#2 Texas Tech vs. winner of TCU/West Va (6 p.m.)
#3 Kansas vs. #6 Texas (8 p.m.)
