AUSTIN (KXAN) — Augie Garrido will always be a Longhorn and now the iconic college baseball coach has his spot next to his fellow Texas coaching legends.
Texas unveiled Garrido’s bust Saturday morning in front of fans along with current and former Longhorn players. The ceremony was led by Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte prior to the annual Texas Baseball Alumni game.
Garrido will stand next to Cliff Gustafson, Bibb Falk and William Disch along the main box office at UFCU Disch-Falk field.
Current Texas coach David Pierce and his 2018 Longhorns used Garrido’s spirit to finish the season with a College World Series appearance. It was Texas’ first CWS appearance since 2014. The Longhorns open the season at Lousiana-Lafayette February 15.
