MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (KXAN) — The Big 12 schedule is long and the results are (at least this year) unpredictable. Shaka Smart’s Longhorns are proving just that while playing their best basketball of the season.
Following five losses in a six-game stretch, Texas has won three of four games after a 22-point win at West Virginia Saturday night.
Smart’s defense is tested and formidable this season, but finally the Longhorns offense appears to have an identity.
Jaxson Hayes and Dylan Osetkowski are providing consistency inside and a different Texas guard is stepping up on any given night.
Freshman Courtney Ramey looked like a playmaker and a young Kerwin Roach throwing down a highlight reel-worthy, alley oop dunk off a feed from the senior, Roach.
Ramey led the Longhorns with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting. In the 75-53 win against the Mountaineers, Texas won back-to-back games for the first time in over a month.
This week is another week riddled with opportunity with two home games. The Longhorns host Kansas State, currently #1 in the Big 12 standings, Tuesday night and Oklahoma State on Saturday.
