WACO (KXAN) — Texas and Baylor baseball will be forced to settle for a two-game split in its Big 12 weekend series.
Rain throughout Central Texas Sunday created a wet mess at Baylor Ballpark and ultimately officials decided to cancel the series finale at 9:15 p.m.
The two teams waited through two delays that amounted to nearly five hours after the game started at 3:30 p.m.
Texas jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning before the first delay of the day. The teams resumed play after an hour wait and the Longhorns added two more runs in the second inning before umpires halted the game for good.
Texas (21-13) will return to Austin preparing for a five-game homestand. The Longhorns host Rice Tuesday and Kansas State for next week’s Big 12 series.
