Teen girl nearly drowns on Lake Travis at Bob Wentz Park

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A girl nearly drowned Tuesday afternoon on Lake Travis, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 1:40 p.m. the girl, said to be 17 or 18-years old, was reported missing 15 feet from the shorline at Bob Wentz Park at a depth of around 15 feet. Within five minutes her family called 911.

By 1:57 p.m. rescue swimmers were in the water and recovered her; she was unconscious. CPR was administered and paramedics were able to get a pulse.

She was taken by a medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
